Day 15.2: STBU
Most frustrating battle.
In spite of managing to not fall prey a second time to the shrieking floating pissed off woman, I keep missing her. The Eidolon however is most effective against her and makes several massive hits. But unlike the former dull entities, this one recognizes Diana is the power behind the Eidolon and goes after Diana. Everyone else seems to recognize what this thing is. I have my suspicions, but no time to figure it out now. She screams more things at us.
“Seak not the salvation in the endless night”
“You carry the key to delirium(?)”
“Shatter the dreams of time”
Another hard hit and Diana goes down. No! I will not lose another! I streak after the menace landing a massive hit – so I thought. Nope. I am the only who can act and the only one not equipped to hit ghosts. (This seems like a rather large oversight by the group that needs to be rectified quickly.) Charles manages to bring Diana back up but the creature has now gone after Mutu taking him down.
I CAN’T HIT HER! Even with massive strikes. This is a problem. A completely unacceptable lack of control in a situation.
Thankfully Diana is able to bring Mutu back up and the rest of the party takes her out. She is banished from this existence for now, but unless we can find her bones, and the reason she is haunting this area, she will be back. [BANSHEE]
As they heal and repair, I search the area of the three cairns (something I am good at) and discover the middle one has been entered recently. I “unstick” the door.
In the first chamber we find many unlit candles – almost as if a ritual had been done here. A corruption, but maybe not yet complete – and a pile of skulls in one corner with runes carved into them similar to the runes we found at the lab.
Need to research these runes to be able to decipher them
Charles starts to glow. Great more undead somewhere. As we move further into the room, the murals around the walls trigger to life, yet are contained to the walls. Too close and they grasp outwards to attack. Spells do hit and both Mutu and Kiren are able to hit the phantasms. Diana becomes distraught yelling not to damage the walls of the burial chamber and refuses to act. Charles, Mutu and I are able to dispatch the murals. Mutu almost provoked the Eidolon and Diana barely held it together enough not to attack Mutu. We were able to show her the corrupted skulls and ritual paints used to corrupt this site, thus why a cleansing was necessary.
Diana demolished the skulls and urns (interesting rage here – there is definitely a backstory to both the anger and the refusal to disrupt a burial site.) We find the ritual paints and a wardrobe stone that would be very useful in some of my other investigations to blend in.
Now to discover what other corruption has been started in what should be a place of peace…
