Day 25.4: Black Sand Dreams

Coalescing Cackle – Just great. Not things you want to deal with from the shadows. With a little boost to Mutu from Kiren and the normal party (okay, maybe above normal actions – actually we were on fire, literally, because Charles let loose a fireball!), the party made quick work of the cloud of darkness. It was almost too easy…

Diana examines the body while I try to calm the kid down. Using Message, Diana is able to find out the mummified semi-corpse was a priest of the temple of the undead child (these religions are crazy!) who got taunted by the knowledge of the black sand to steal the dreams of his god’s followers. When he was denied a library card, he tried to take the scrolls and this life sucking was his punishment. (note to self: stealing here – and getting caught – kinda sucks). Unfortunately, when we interrupted his punishment, we might have released the thing that was punishing him and well… it took the priest over and he promptly started to attack us. Charles flickers and then starts to glow (sigh).

The priest’s eyes turned pitch black and his undead nature becomes rather apparent. Kinda like an anti-Mutu. The party does what it does best and after a few fireballs from Charles (the librarians are gonna have words!!) hard hitting the rest, we lay to rest the mummy once and for all. As Him disappears to ferry the priest’s soul, tiny creature immediately come out of the stacks to clean up. (I so want to shred paper just to make them scurry). Somehow I feel…stronger, quicker, and definitely out of time.

We manage to calm the girl down. She has taken a liking to Charles (narrows eyes). We find out she had been to the isle and Albrecht sold her to the Migo. The Migo were trying to find a direct line to the city of NOC by imprinting dreams – Migo don’t dream – in order to get to the dreamlands by using the ley lines.

Kiren tried to talk to the brain in the box asking what the Migo wanted it for. The Migi seek the black lake to collapse the war lines. Kiren & Diana release the brain/soul to its final rest.

While the other sleep, Mutu and Kiren remain awake. Well Mutu recharging. Kiren walked around, rummaging through her bag to find a ring she forgot about. One that kept sleeping to a minimum. Sleep used to be restful, not so much anymore.
