Day 18.3: Battle of Wills

Mutu has named the bear we found – Sir Giles Wellington (Maybe Mutu does have a heart)

Moving on from the rookery of inappropriate thoughts at the split we go right and through a hallway of mirrors Gregory’s impressions of us – not impressed) and into a semi-circular chamber – humid. A spectral woman shields a young Gregory while nearby a young girl in flight statue. The woman’s statue comes to life and Charles begins to glow. Gregor’s “Aunt” tells us to leave that we have no business here. I manage to discern that the entity would only be vulnerable to silver – definitely undead. The creature has a difficult time hitting us, but the party also struggles to destroy the creature. The young Gregory hampers us, trying to get us to stop hurting his Aunt. Diana tried to calm him, but with no effect. Mutu and Him seem to have the best effects at attacking (I sure didn’t do too much) while Diana and Charles keep the party healed. As Mutu strikes the final blow, the creature dies and young Gregor fades away.

We check out the statue of the little girl. The family resemblance is strong – probably his sister? But find nothing else (I worry we need to set her free somehow – but where?)

The party continues to explore finding more dead ends. Him finds one of the dead ends isn’t, leading into a hallway with white flowers with disturbing faces on them. Charles recognizes the flowers hidden within – white lotus – that could protect us from mental damage within the dreamscape for 1 minute Is that 1 minute in dreamscape time or real-world time?) He manages to collect enough for all of us.

We continue on and Mutu disappears…again back to the entrance. We follow and the party decides we need to go forward and walk the path a second time. We find ourselves in the oubliette again (or a different one), except this time there are only 2 entities – Charles & BunBun. They warn the second path leads to Gregor’s EGO – Fortress of Self and present another puzzle.

The party solves the puzzle and moves into a room with an enchanted cello. Idealized images of Gregory float within the notes of the melody. EGO for sure based on his ranty “perfection” of his music. It’s horrific as usual and I might have said that aloud.

Think I pissed him off (GOOD!) as Gregor decided to take out his frustrations on me quite a bit. Not the meat shield Mutu is but if it keeps him away from the others, so be it. My party protects and heals me. At one point, life wavered on a knife point for me. I think I insulted & taunted Gregor more. The web of Grandmother spider is not yet done with me. I will protect my new family – with my life if needed – and trust them to protect me. Charles doesn’t disappoint and heals me back to almost full. It’s a heady feeling. Diana, Him, Mutu finish off the creature.

Gregory is once again disappointed! And we take the time to rest.
