Day 2: Civilization…I think

Day 2

Investigated the bat man (after Mutu took his pants – um okay?) seems he was some kind of were creature, a shapeshifter (human that can change shape but to a man-bat form). Humans that are afflicted turn into these creatures with either strong emotions or during a full moon (Of course we traveled during a full moon). Their bite or possibly claw can transmit their curse to others (thankfully only regular bats scratched Charles or we’d be having a pit BBQ and be a traveling member lighter) Silver seems to be a weakness.

 

Finally made it to the village. They must not get a lot of visitors. Stared at all of us. Entrance to village was strung with garlic, like a lot of garlic. Free seasoning? Kinda weird if you ask me. Charles figured out the garlic has some weird properties of protection against those changing creatures. (Guess I’m gonna start stinking like garlic from now on).

 

 

Found the inn. All the shutters had symbols – runes – on them to ward off evil. Garlic strung on all the doorways. Couldn’t read the words carved into the door way, but Charles figured it out (guess that religion training is good for something) which read “Garlic between eyes to protect from evil eye.” Not sure what the hell that means.

 

Met Owner of the Inn – NICOLAS RADU – told us about the Beast of Dunkervald. Appears as Red mist/smoke. Started after the lumber company  – BAUMGUARDEN & PEATERUS(?)….. (couldn’t really remember name) MERCANTILE Co – ventured further into the woods to log the area. They eventually left due to beast. Owner said we would have to talk to Elena /Adriana/Ileana for the local rumors.

 

Ask for a drink (Mutu mentioned my top button came loose. Ugh – he really doesn’t get it) but owner gave me drink token. Mutu got one too (LOL – maybe I can teach him a thing or two) and told us to go into the common room for food.

 

Common Room – Met Bartender – GILES ROCKGUT (dwarf) – offered local amber ale (1cp), Dwarven brew (3cp), red wine (1gp). Possessing a civilized pallet, I got the bottle of wine. He wasn’t too happy when I gave him the drink voucher. Mutu also got a bottle and gave it to me. (Machine man is definitely growing on me, but I have got to teach him when to keep his mouth shut). Since we were on Prof’s money, ordered the good meal to save my stomach (1gp) cooked by barmaid – ANA RADU (owners daughter).
