27-30.1-Torture or religion (same thing)

27-29

Two boats appear on the docks, with an older woman and a young boy following her carrying everything but the kitchen sink. Diane sends HIM invisible to spy on them before Mutu goes al holy avenger on them. Find out they are “cleaners” to come check on Alberich’s research AND remove all possible ties to “the Doctor” who the boy ultimately names as Ritalsin. Seems no so innocent after all. Him finds and destroys a commination orb along with other magical equipment and notes. The notes he grabs for us. More to add to my collection of information. We wait in hiding for them to reach the courtyard. Well, everyone but Mutu.

What happens next is a montage of religious zeal that makes Kiren disgusted, except it does seem to work to loosen their tongues. They tell us everything. How deep Ritalsin is in the black sand and that Rictus may be the one actually pulling the strings of a splinter group within the university. We find out there were two hidden labs – the island we found and another near the university that they truly didn’t know where it was. (One we need to find – unless it was the one in the basement we found).

Through several days of “reeducation” we believe the boy will actually repent and find a better way. The old woman – Kiren has her doubts. We leave them trapped on the island and Mutu even has a talk with the mermaid to keep them there and prevent others from landing.

30.1

We return to town to go shopping and sell/replenish our supplies. Unfortunately, the Vanes have eyes and ears – at least until they get smacked with stones. Kiren sends out her feelers for information. We notice a man watching us trying to blend in. Kiren recognizes him as part of the Night Hexen group and promptly give chase, eventually stopping him on the docks – were I feel he wanted us.
