A Seeker & The Cost of Forbidden Knowledge

Summary of Events (4/13/2025):

When last we left our heroes, they had passed through the crimson gate—into a new chamber of the Endless Library.

A vast rotunda stretched before them, its ceiling a tapestry of constellations, some familiar… others lost to memory and dream.

There, huddled in a shadowed corner, they found the frightened child, Nissamera—trembling, broken. With the patient words of Mutu, Kiren, and Charles, her spirit was coaxed back from the edge of despair. They pledged to lead her home—back through the gate of red light.

But fate had other designs.

Before them, the air twisted and howled—a great and terrible cloud of mocking faces, shrieking laughter, gnashing teeth. A Phantasm— born of devoured dreams, feasting on the gossamer of mortal thought. Steel and spell clashed against the storm of madness—and when the final echo of battle faded, they found the man it had fed upon, withered, near death… but not yet claimed.

With gasping breath, he spoke of black sand, of a god-child called Walkena, of a quest for forbidden knowledge that led him to this place beyond reckoning. But corruption does not let go so easily.
As death took him, the black sand stirred—and the man rose again, not as himself, but as an undead puppet of darker will. In grim mercy, the heroes laid him low once more.

In the heavy silence that followed, as their breaths slowed and the rotunda’s light dimmed—only Mutu heard it. A voice, ancient and patient, whispering across the marble:

“Applicant… have you come to petition for a card?”

Thus, their path deeper into the Library of Endless Secrets darkened…and the true trial began.
