The 2nd Obelisk & a Kaiju!

Summary of Events (2/15/2026)

Ahhhh, BATTLE most TERRIBLE!

Kiren struck with glittering dust, revealing the invisible wisp that had arisen from one of the corpses of the black sand dead! The party pressed their advantage — Diana’s haste empowered all, and Charles called divine judgment upon their enemies! But Trey summoned HORROR from beneath the ice!

YARTHOON emerged — a kaiju ice worm one hundred and fifty feet of nightmare! Its multiple eyes blasted frozen beams at our heroes with the casual destruction of a thing that has never needed to consider anything smaller than itself a threat! The party ENDURED the assault, and the great worm retreated into the Arctic depths, leaving bone-chilling mist in its wake!

But VICTORY came at TERRIBLE cost! For Mutu had moved to the ritual circle carved in the ice by Dr. Ritalsin’s servant, and had read the Aklo ritual inscribed upon it in black ice — which opened his mind to influences outside of himself. So when Yarthoon’s alien consciousness passed by, it TOUCHED him. The automaton went MAD. His chassis glowed sickly yellow-green as he stumbled toward the frozen waters, mumbling in terror as he tried to flee cosmic revelations that no mortal mind was built to hold!

Before he could drown himself in the black waters to escape the terrible knowledge, HIM dove in after him — and with the frost giant’s help pulled Mutu from the depths. But the damage was done. Mutu’s mind SHATTERED by glimpsing the void between worlds! Charles’s ministrations brought him back from the brink of total madness, but could not close all the psychic wounds. Only time might be able to do that.

And so the frost giant Thorn agreed to shelter the broken automaton and tend to his recovery — repayment for the party’s curing of Jodl from the black sand curse — while our heroes continue their quest! Before departing, Charles and Diana purified the ritual site, preventing further corruption of the Saurmen Kar’s obelisk. While Kiren played MORA — that ancient game — with Thorn, winning knowledge of what lies ahead: two more obelisk rings protecting the Nameless Spires, and word of Ainamuuren, the last of the Saurmen Kar, still guarding a dying city.

Thorn led them to his igloo home, tending to Mutu wrapped in polar bear furs. The giant shared wisdom of the stars while his six-legged bears nuzzled an exhausted Charles. Tomorrow they journey onward. But tonight they rest in the hospitality of the Ice Walker. The final confrontation draws NEAR! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
