Research: Black Sand Analysis
Sand’s Properties: The black sand remains an enigma, defying conventional logic. It possesses a paradoxical nature, having both weight and weightlessness, substance and insubstantiality. When I touch it with a rune-inscribed rod, it behaves like a liquid—rippling fluidly—yet resists scattering, as if caught between different states of matter—solid, liquid, and something beyond current understanding.
Enchanted Water Test: I added a droplet of enchanted water to the black sand, anticipating some form of reaction. To my surprise, the droplet remained suspended above the sand’s surface, seemingly defying natural laws by refusing to make contact. It was as if the sand existed in a reality where the standard principles of physics simply do not apply, creating a strange limbo that holds the water aloft. Curiously, I have been unable to replicate this result. Each subsequent experiment with the enchanted water yields entirely different outcomes. Once, the water transformed into a fine mist that scattered into a miniature rainbow, displaying colors that I have never seen in nature.
Occult Sensitivity: Whispering an incantation to probe the sand’s arcane properties unleashed a flood of disjointed images into my mind—strange landscapes, shadowy figures, and emotions that feel entirely foreign. The sand pulses with an eerie energy, almost as if it is alive, yet distinctly alien. Curiously, my tattoos—those that appeared after my journey to the Fey First World and exposure to the black sand—begin to tingle with a sharp, prickling sensation whenever the sand pulses. Could there be a deeper, hidden connection between them? Both the Dreamlands and the First World are realms steeped in chaos, inherently resistant to the constructs of order.
Conclusion: The black sand continues to confound my understanding, behaving in ways that defy the natural laws of both the waking world and the Dreamlands. Its paradoxical properties suggest it exists in a liminal space, straddling multiple realities at once. The unpredictability of its reactions, even in controlled experiments, indicates a chaotic and volatile essence, possibly tied to the very fabric of dreams and desire. The inexplicable connection between the sand’s pulsations and the sensations in my tattoos further hints at a deeper, more intrinsic link between this substance and realms of chaos like the Dreamlands and the Fey First World. It is clear that the black sand is far more than a mere material; it may be a bridge, a catalyst, or even a manifestation of the chaotic energies that flow between dimensions. Further investigation is not just warranted, but necessary, though it may come at a cost I am yet to fully understand.
