Seventh Day

After defeating the fiendish little gnome creature, the party starts to search the building. Kiren and Thulnir find nothing of importance. Geist finally identifies the critter as a Redcap. They dunk their caps in blood and that is how they get their powers. Walking outside and investigating the rest of the farm, there is a well and Charles starts to investigate it. With his poor sight, at least that is what the rest of the team tells him, he doesn’t see much. He calls over Kiren who is able to spot that the water is dusted with small black motes. They appear to coalesce, writhe, and twist. It appears similar to the dust/sand from the trees and the elf gate. Charles tries to recall how to dispel the motes, but just cant quite seem to recall it. It is possible that the wells here and at the chapel share the same water table. Thulnir volunteers to haul up a bucket of water. In the bottom of the bucket is the same black sand. Kiren shows Geist the sand and he too has never seen it before. He does say it is charged with psychic energies. At this point Kiren recounts her fevered dream. There is a white furry face and she gets buried in the black sand. Each time she hits the container holding the sand or strikes the black coal, she flashes back to that dream. Finding nothing else of note, the party returns to the town to rest and decide on the next course of action. Perhaps the schloss needs to be investigated.
Upon their return there are wagons with carvings of creatures. They appear to move with the shadows. The bar is energized by the return of Radu Vadu the Peddler. Tomorrow he will open his shop and trade with the townsfolk.
Before heading to bed, Charles speaks with the matrons and learns that the two mausoleums belong to two highly important people from the town. Both were taken by a horrible plague. Iula was the daughter of the leader of the town. About ten years ago the plague caused dark patches and sapped the live from the people. Only the magic of Papa Pepesku was able to save the people. This Shadow Plague burned itself out but also took Vladmir who also did most of the work carvings in the town.
The next morning, the party finds blankets laid out in front of the tavern with all sorts of goods on display. Radu and his staff are working with the townsfolk on deals. Radu is a middle aged man, bright and engaging. Kiren notices that there is one doll which is porcelain and is significantly higher in craftsmanship than the rest of the toys being sold. A man with patched clothing, but Thulnir notices very finely crafted boots, passes a bag which Charles sees is coated in vinegar and sealed in lead to Radu who pays the man. One of the townsfolk confirms that the stranger is in fact Olaft the man that has sold other items to Radu from the church and outlying areas. The party tries to track him, but loses him. Upon speaking with Radu, he mentions that there are nobles and hunting lodges to the north and they run the areas they can control. He feels the his trade route is an untapped resource. He mentions the Toymaker who has never been seen when asked about the doll. He refuses to sell the doll, he was commissioned to deliver it. He might be willing to have the party join him as he is going to the schloss to make the delivery. He also mentions the Night Hexen who deals in unsavory goods. When pressed on the contents of the bag, he says that Olaft brought him “green lotus mushrooms” which Charles cannot recall hearing of before. Apparently the Dragfees are interested in the mushrooms and they have the right to them first. He refuses to even show them to the party.
Kiren notices that Charles was looking at a new talisman for his cloak. She trades some of her wasp wings in exchange. She then deftly replaces the first aide one with the new featherfall one.
