The River Chain Falls

Summary of Events (2/19/2025):
11/30/4722

Ahhhh, REINFORCEMENTS!

Hugh rushed into the toll tower drawn by sounds of battle! He found his companions victorious over the toy swarm!

But then—an unexpected visitor!

Temperature plummeted! Kren de Snow of the Winter Court materialized with her magnificent snow leopard Picard! “I am here to protect Shakoom,” she declared. “The rest of you? Your survival is your own concern.”

They discovered treasure: another River Chain Key! Two keys! Both must be turned simultaneously!

The second floor reeked of death! A skeleton wrapped in black mold! A ghastly toll keeper woman! “You must pay the TOLL!” Battle! Victory!

The third floor held ghostly mist—Dreamlands bleeding into reality! Ghost girl Lisette appeared, playing jacks with black sand! Jotaro insulted her! “I hate jacks and you’re CREEPY!” She threw the jacks at him: “You’re not my DAD!”

The fourth floor bedroom held HORROR! A writhing mass of caustic tentacles! Acidic flesh that dissolved metal! It struck Nadja down! Kren de Snow healed the fallen! Shakoom’s flames finally burned the creature to bubbling ash!

They ascended to the ROOF! Massive brass gears! Crackling arcane energy! A lightning hazard! Kren de Snow disabled the deadly mechanism! Jotaro and Shining Fist turned both keys simultaneously!

The gears ground to life! Black sand swirled! The chains splashed into the river! SUCCESS!

But descending to the beach—Kong was GONE! Drag marks toward the water! A feather floating against the current!

Then—giggling! Crystalline laughter echoing through the mist! Tiny blue fairy creatures with mouths for hands! Vergesslingsfeen—memory-eating fey! Motes of blue-silver light drifted like fireflies, weaving patterns in forgotten languages!

They swarmed Hugh, drawn by his scent! “You smell of autumn’s wind! Of harvest and falling leaves! The bird-man was food, but YOU—you’re a FEAST!”

BATTLE!

One pixie called itself “Racist” and grabbed Hugh by the ears, feeding on his memories of Lastwall! Another—Passionate—clawed at him with tiny fists! The third, Cooperative, tripped Jotaro, sending him face-first into shallow water!

Hugh cast an air bubble spell to save his drowning companion!

Nadja’s cold iron needles pierced pixie flesh—they shrieked at the touch of wrought iron! Kren de Snow’s spiritual weapons struck! Picard the snow leopard pounced and clawed! Shakoom cast fear upon them, his orcish fury making Passionate flee in terror!

Shining Fist became a tripping machine—grabbing pixies from the air and slamming them into the sand! Over and over! Trip, smash, trip, smash!

Hugh crushed Racist beneath his warhammer! “Here’s a memory for you!” The pixie’s wings crumpled, its eyes dimmed, its beak broken!

But Cooperative and Passionate still fought on! Jotaro lay unconscious in the water! The battle raged as supernatural mist closed around them!
