The Library and the Docks
Summary of Events (12/4/2025): 11/28/4722:
Ahhhh, knowledge! That most dangerous of pursuits!
Our heroes sought answers at the Traume und Feen Library—a place larger inside than outside, where reality bends and shadows pool upon impossible ceilings. But first, an omen! Outside the entrance, they witnessed a pale woman in black—Jennifer—arguing with a librarian about forbidden texts. She spoke of compacts, blood prices, and names. When denied, her elegant facade slipped for just a moment, revealing something… other beneath.
How delightful!
Inside, Hendrik Voss—the bespectacled head librarian with ink-stained fingers greeted them with scholarly precision. He verified Professor Sabine’s credentials and granted them access. His assistant Atticus, nervous around the Goblin Sweetback (who threatened to urinate on the books—charming!), led them deeper into the stacks.
The research began. Hugh proved useless with books, as expected. Jotaro found himself distracted by sailor ghost stories. But Shakoom and Nadja—ah, those two discovered much!
The previous teams had researched the Fey Islands, the Phantom Islands, and most disturbingly, the Hungry Fog—a predatory mist from beyond the Dark Tapestry that consumes everything it touches. The teams asked troubling questions: Could such fog be summoned? Could it be controlled?
Shakoom noticed something crucial—one book, “Breaches in Reality: When the Outside Comes In,” was co-authored by the traitor Dr. Ritalson and the missing Dr. Morgrim! It argued that reality fractures were becoming more frequent, more severe. That humanity must prepare for a world that no longer follows the rules.
How very… apocalyptic!
Hours passed. Research complete, our heroes emerged into drizzling evening. Fog rolled off the river. Gas lamps flickered to life.
And then—confrontation!
Three dock workers blocked their path. Gregor, the bearded brute with hooks on his belt. Bertha, brutal and brass-knuckled. Jacob, weathered and weak-willed. They blamed the Consortium—and by extension, these scholars—for the disappearances, the changes, and the filth infecting their docks.
“You bring this curse to our streets!” Gregor shouted.
Intimidation failed. Diplomacy collapsed. Violence erupted!
Gregor smashed Jotaro to the ground—twice! The warrior could not keep his footing! Shining Fist struck back with righteous fury. Shakoom commanded Jacob to flee. Hugh interceded heroically, taking blows meant for his summoned companion. Kong’s elemental blasts and magical timber sentinels protected his allies.
But Bertha! Oh, Bertha the Brutal! With brass knuckles, she destroyed Shining Fist and Jotaro in a single devastating punch of pure violence!
Then came Sweetback Willie.
The goblin, from behind his deployable cover, raised his rifle. One shot and Bertha fell, bullet through her brain.
Gregor soon followed, crushed by Hugh’s righteous warhammer.
Only Jacob remained, cowering, knowing his fate approaches…
