Guiding Claudia

What was left of the twisted form, which was once a woman, lay still—a tragic remnant of a vibrant life now twisted by noisome forces of the black sand. As silence settled, HIM, the ethereal eidolon bound to Diana, emerged from the dimness. His serene light illuminated the room, casting gentle rays upon the fractured remains before him.

Her soul began to rise from her corrupted body—a faint, shimmering silhouette of the beauty she once possessed. Her eyes, filled with deep sorrow and confusion, gazed around the shadowed chamber.

HIM:”Can you tell me your name?”

She turned toward HIM, her voice a fragile whisper laced with anguish.

Claudia:”My… my name? It’s… Claudia. Am I… dreaming?” Her spectral hands reached up to touch her face, fingers trembling as they traced the contours.

Claudia:”I don’t recognize myself anymore. Everything feels so distant.”

HIM:”Claudia, you have endured much pain. I’m here to guide you to peace.”

She looked into HIS eyes, a flicker of hope mingled with despair.

Claudia:”Peace? I scarcely remember what that feels like. I only wanted to be seen, to be beautiful again. To have more time to make my mark and move on from that ratty little theater… it is all that I desired.”

Her voice quavered, words spilling out in a rush of emotion.

Claudia:”He promised me—Albrecht said he could turn back time, make me shine on stage once more. And for a moment, I believed him. The lines faded, the lights loved me again. I thought I had a second chance.” A tear glistened in her eye, sliding down like liquid sorrow.

Claudia:”But then… I needed more and more injections. My dreams—once so vivid—began to wither away, fading into nothingness. Each night, I closed my eyes to a void, an endless abyss where my hopes used to dance.”

Her voice grew strained, a hint of terror creeping in.

Claudia:”I could feel it inside me—the black sand—crawling through my veins, devouring my dreams, feasting on my very soul. The melodies I cherished turned to whispers, then to silence. It left me hollow, a shell filled with nightmares too horrific to speak of.” She shuddered, her form flickering like a dying flame.

Claudia:”My skin cracked, my body twisted. I became a monster he hid away, all while he whispered empty promises that he could fix everything. But the dreams… they were gone, stolen. Why did this happen to me?”

HIM:”You were deceived by someone who exploited your deepest desires. The black sand fed upon your dreams, twisting them into something dark. But his hold on you is gone now.”

She clutched at her chest, eyes wide with lingering fear.

Claudia:”I was so afraid of fading away, of being forgotten. I clung to his promises, blind to the cost. Now… I’m nothing but a shadow, haunted by echoes of the dreams that were stolen from me.”

HIM:”You are more than what was done to you. Your essence remains, untouched by his actions.”

Her gaze dropped, a mixture of shame and longing.

Claudia:”Do you think they remember me? The audiences, the way they applauded… I wanted to be their star again. But now, all I recall are fragments, torn pieces of a life I can barely grasp.”

HIM:”Your light touched many hearts. That cannot be erased.”

She hesitated, fingers intertwining nervously.

Claudia:”Will there be forgiveness? Can I find myself again beyond this darkness? Can I reclaim the dreams that were taken from me?”

HIM:”In the River of Souls, you will find healing and understanding. Your dreams will return to you, untainted.”

She reached out tentatively.

Claudia:”Will you stay with me? Until I find that peace?”

HIM:”I will walk beside you every step of the way.”

As their hands met, a gentle glow enveloped them both. They began to move toward a soft, beckoning light that emerged from the shadows. Before stepping into the luminance, Claudia paused.

Claudia:”Thank you for asking my name. It’s been so long since anyone cared to know.”

HIM:”Every soul matters, Claudia. You are not alone.”
A faint smile touched her lips—a glimpse of the grace she once embodied.

Claudia:”Perhaps, in that peace, I can dance again among the stars. Perhaps my dreams will flourish once more, and the nightmares will fade.”

Together, they stepped into the luminescent glow. The oppressive atmosphere of the manor faded away, replaced by serene tranquility.

As Claudia’s soul entered the River of Souls, her form became radiant, the shadows of her torment dissolving into light. HIM watched as she drifted peacefully into the beyond, her essence finally at rest.
Returning to the quiet aftermath of the manor, HIM reflected on the encounter and the vulnerabilities that dwelt within mortal hearts—the desires and fears that the black sand seemed to act upon in exchange for their dreams and nightmares.
